Top Misconceptions About Chiropractic Care

We strongly believe that chiropractic care can benefit people who are suffering from different pains and conditions. However, there is a lot of misinformation floating around the internet from getting your back aligned; or what age you should start visiting a chiropractor. Here are the top misconceptions about chiropractic care that you might have heard of.

Back Adjustments Are Not Safe

This is one of the biggest myths that back adjustments are not safe. We believe that the reason why there is a belief that back adjustments are not safe is because of unlicensed Chiropractors. A Chiropractor needs to earn a Doctor Chiropractor (D.C.) degree in order to be licensed. There exist Chiropractors who practice chiropractic care without this degree, and they may not be properly trained.

Therefore, if a person didn’t go through proper training they can really cause some damage. It’s true that back adjustments are safe, but from a licensed Chiropractor. We would never recommend visiting a person who is not licensed, because they can cause even more damage. If you ever have a question about a Chiropractor you can look up their license through the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) website.

You Only Need To Visit A Chiropractor Once

Contrary to popular belief, once you visit a Chiropractor you’ll want to visit them regularly. Also, you want to make sure that you’re following up with your appointments. This is to ensure that once the problem has subsided it stays that way. The biggest issue we run into is the “I feel better now” which is good! That’s what we want. However, we want you to continue to feel that way by scheduling regular visits.

It can benefit those who live active lifestyles and are subject to injuries often. Also, it can benefit those who don’t have active lifestyles and suffer from various issues because of it. A regular visit to the chiropractor can help you remain healthy and increase your mobility. Now, don’t get us wrong, you don’t have to visit a chiropractor everyday (unless you require it). Depending on your need - you can schedule once or twice a week to once or twice a month.

Chiropractic Adjustments Hurt

You might have heard that getting a back adjustment hurts, or that you’ll feel discomfort. The reason why some might think that it hurts is because of the popping and cracking noises you might hear. All that noise is just air and gas moving through your joints, like when you crack your knuckles. The noise doesn’t signify pain, on the contrary - some find immediate relief when getting a back adjustment.

What can hurt is putting off getting a back adjustment. Also, the pain some people feel is similar to when you finally get that good stretch. For example, you know you needed to stretch and once you do it can hurt but in a good way. One discomfort you might feel is soreness due to your body getting properly adjusted. You might not be used to your back being properly aligned and it can feel weird at first. This just means you really needed a back adjustment!

Conclusion

You will hear a lot of hearsay about Chiropractic care especially from those who feel that they don’t need it. However, a couple of things to keep in mind is that back adjustments are safe, you shouldn’t just visit a chiropractor once, and the experience is not as painful as you might think. Schedule a visit with us today but walk-ins are always welcomed.
